IP3023 Processor in Volume Production with Multiple True Circuits PLL Hard Macros;
Targets Streaming Media, Voice and Gaming Applications
LOS ALTOS, California - True Circuits, Inc. (TCI), a leading
provider of analog and mixed-signal intellectual property (IP) for the
semiconductor, systems and electronics industries, announced today
that Ubicom, Inc. of Mountain View, California has successfully
implemented multiple True Circuits PLL hard macros in Ubicom's
IP3023TM
wireless network processor using TSMC's 130nm process technology.
The Ubicom processor is now in volume production and offers
performance that is up to three times that of comparable SoCs used in
wireless applications. The processor's real-time architectural
approach offers the highest quality streaming media and the fastest
response times for voice and gaming applications. The processor was
announced on April 15, 2003, to broad industry acclaim. (View the

"We needed a flexible, high-performance and proven timing
solution to meet the low latency requirements of our wireless network
processor," said Darrell Burns, Vice President of Engineering at
Ubicom. "True Circuits provided us with multi-phase clock generator
PLLs that met all our performance requirements and are now enabling
our customers to meet their own price and performance goals in the
wireless infrastructure and peripheral equipment markets."
"Our goal is to help our customers realize the performance
potential of their advanced products in whatever CMOS process they
select," remarked Stephen G. Maneatis, CEO of True
Circuits. "We are very pleased to have yet another customer
achieve success with our low-jitter PLLs in high-performance wireless
applications."
About Ubicom's Wireless Network Processor
Now in volume production, the IP3023 has shown network address
translation (NAT) routing performance of over 50 Mbps on typical
Internet packet mixes and uses a patent-pending architecture designed
for real-time tasks and low latency. These performance levels enable
routing at full wireless and very high speed digital subscriber line
(VDSL) speeds, better firewall functions, and the addition of key
features like print serving, voice, and VPN functions to low-cost
routers. As the wireless industry migrates to higher speed radio
technologies, the IP3023 provides a seamless upgrade path.
